My name is Jennifer and I began Stone and Sparrow bakery in 2024. I struggled to find a hobby that kept my interest more than a month or two... and every day life just wasn't exciting enough.

I began baking as way to decompress after a long day of work, and slowly it became an obsession. My first sourdough starter "Betsy" was quite the trooper, but as every amateur baker has experienced, she didn't make it to maturity and we had to say goodbye just after 2 months of growth and care.
​
Luckily, my husband knew the only way to keep a happy home was to get me a new starter ASAP! and thus Marilyn Mondough was born. Marilyn quickly became a star and in just 3 months was showing off by overflowing all over the counter causing quite the clean up every morning!

​After months of trial and error, I developed a recipe that worked for me and I started experimenting with sourdough to create new treats and flavor profiles. I was in the kitchen almost every night improving my skills and making enough dirty dishes to fill 10 sinks!
​
I wanted to share my joy with others and finally pulled the trigger (or dough whisk if you will) on baking bread for family, friends, and community markets! I always enjoy meeting new carb. enthusiasts and am excited to have become a vendor at West Side Market here in Greenville SC.
